Short term (Uniform Schengen Visa, Type C, up to 90 days)

It is issued by a Schengen State and authorizes entry for short stay in or transit through the Schengen area for a period not exceeding 90 days.
If students hold a residence permit issued by a Schengen State they are entitled to enter Italy without a visa for a short stay not exceeding 3 months. In this case too, students must report their presence within 8 working days after entering Italy at the police headquarters (Questura) in the province they are domiciled in (Potenza or Matera) by submitting the form 'Declaration of presence' (Dichiarazione di presenza).
Citizens of a country exempted from any visa requirement can freely travel to Italy for less than 90 days without a short-term visa. Once in Italy, they must report their presence submitting the form 'Declaration of presence' (Dichiarazione di Presenza) at the local police headquarter (Questura), within 8 working days after entering Italy.
